In September of 2018 my partner and I came to the conclusion that we had to make some very serious decisions on the future of our company Carolina Fine Jewelry Inc. We had been struggling to make a profit for the last 3 years due to a flood that literally wiped out a large portion of our customer base. That with online shopping becoming another competitor we needed to form a gameplan on how to turn inventory into cash.
We did our research and quizzed every sales rep that came through our doors on who they recommended for helping us with a sale that would sell our merchandise and not some other closeout company’s merchandise. The overwhelming consensus was the Chuck Frey Co. We did call many of his competitors beforehand and felt that Chuck was the right guy after talking to him within 5 minutes. He was not pushy in any way and the most important factor was he had no inventory of his own that he wanted to sell. His objective as was ours was to sell OUR merchandise. We were not interested in bringing someone else’s product into the store and have their Sales Reps focus on selling their product. He did have some manufacturers he knew to help “fill in” spots that we didn’t have, but it was minimal and had very little impact on the overall sales.
We discussed our goals and gave Chuck all of the information he needed to come up with a goal of where we wanted to be after the sale was over. We decided on an Inventory Reduction sale as opposed to a Going out of Business or moving sale which were options we had considered. Chuck had an aggressive plan and we were hesitant, but trusted him due to his experience. We had never really had a sale before so this was all very new to us but we went with the flow. Chuck also came up with some projections that he said we would know pretty much within 2-3 weeks of the beginning of the sale of where we would meet. Boy was he right!!
Terry Roscoe was to be our Store sales rep that worked for the Chuck Frey Co. We met Terry a few days from the start of the sale and we became very confident that he was going to be an excellent choice. Between our staff of 4 we have over a hundred years of experience. Funny thing is we ALL learned so much more from Terry! He had so many new ideas of how to sell and was just full of information that we all can use in future sales. We can’t speak highly enough about Terry, he not only was a huge help, but he became a friend as well. We have missed him since the day he left.
The sale was a huge success! We followed the outline as we planned and it worked as Chuck predicted. We did in 3 ½ months what we normally do in a year. We managed to pay off a lot of debt and now we have enough in our checking account to make it through the year. We would highly recommend The Chuck Frey Co. They are honest and very knowledgeable about how to make a sale work for you.
